Tors Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador


Tors Cove is a small village located on the east coast of the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland, approximately 40 kilometers south of the St. John's, the provincial capital, along Route 10. It was formerly named Toads Cove and remains unincorporated without council.
The population was 279 in 1951 and 289 in 1956 and consisted of 459 as of 2016. Throughout its history, its economy was sustained through the cod fishery and was the site of a codfish processing plant until the moratorium in 1991.
It is also the site of a hydroelectric dam and power plant.
Tors Cove is on the East Coast Trail.
