Trapped (1949 film)


Trapped is a 1949 American crime film noir directed by Richard Fleischer and starring Lloyd Bridges, Barbara Payton, and John Hoyt. It was written by George Zuckerman and Earl Felton.
Like many semidocumentaries, the film begins with a voice over footage of the treasury department, telling the story of what the department does. Then it quickly begins the story once a woman tries to deposit a $20 bill at the bank that turns out to be phony.

Plot

The film tells the story of the U.S. Treasury Department which, with the aid of a counterfeiter, tries to track and stop the counterfeiting ring. The counterfeiter, Tris Stewart, serving time in prison, is released under the agreement that he will assist in the capture of the phony money printers. Once out of jail, Stewart quickly meets cigarette girl Meg Dixon.

Cast
