True Light Middle School of Hong Kong


The True Light Middle School of Hong Kong This is a band 1 school and is a Protestant girls secondary school located on Hong Kong Island. In addition to secondary education, the school has a kindergarten section and a primary section all sharing the same address. The kindergarten and primary sections are co-educational.

History

True Light School, established in Guangzhou in 1872 by Harriet Newell Noyes. "Thou Art the Light of the World" was chosen as school motto. Six students were enrolled. It was the pioneer of Chinese women’s education in Southern China. The women’s education that it advocates not only raised the status of women in society but also helped nurture the talents needed by the country and made a great contribution to the overall development of society.
In 1935, a branch primary school was established in Hong Kong. The secondary section was added in the post-war period. In 1951, the school was relocated to Tai Hang Road. The True Light Middle School of Hong Kong has grown to encompass 3 sections: a kindergarten, primary school and secondary school with a total enrollment of ~2000 students.

Location

The school is located on 50 Tai Hang Road, Hong Kong Island. Together with the private primary school, kindergarten and commercial section, the entire campus occupies an area of 10,000 square metres. Facilities in the Secondary School include the following:
3 counseling rooms, a career master’s room, 2 student activity rooms, a religious activity room,
