The winner is offered a recording contract; for one single with ‘KopyKats Entertainment’, cash prize, photo shoot, a video, and some publicity. The non-profit making competition is designed to make them visible and create a stepping stone for them because they are not bound by any contract.
The contestants are taken through two stages of the competition; they perform their composition and another song. They are not restricted to any music genre. The basis of choosing a winner was not about who could sing the best but who had the most marketable song and personality.
The last set of judges were El-Dee of Trybes Record, Segun Demuren of EME, Segun Obe, Mr. Wale Aboderin, Chairman of Punch.
In 2011, Daniel Oramali also known as ‘Chuck Dee’ emerged winner of the second edition of Jay’s Search while other contestants went home with consolation prizes.
