Two-up two-down
Two-up two-down is type of small house with two main rooms on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs. Often it is part of a terrace. This form of architecture was widely used in industrial towns in the British Isles following the Industrial Revolution.
These types of dwellings are often in line for demolition and redevelopment; however in some areas local community groups have campaigned to save them, e.g. Toxteth Street in Openshaw, Manchester.
