UP Health System - Marquette

UP Health System - Marquette is an American hospital and regional medical center located in Marquette and serving the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The hospital is a Level II trauma center as verified by the American College of Surgeons. The hospital trains medical students from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, as well as residents in the family medicine residency program. Prior to 1973, Marquette had two hospitals: St. Mary's Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital. Marquette General Hospital was formed in 1973 when the two Marquette hospitals merged.
In 2012, Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette approved Marquette General Hospitals purchase by for-profit organization Duke LifePoint. It was the fourth hospital to be acquired by the company, after Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, North Carolina, Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, North Carolina, and Twin County Regional Healthcare in Galax, Virginia.
