Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Kiev
The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Kiev is the principal Archdiocese of the Ukrainian Catholic Major Archeparchy of Kiev-Halych, within the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. It has a long ecclesiastical history, but its modern institutional renewal was initiated on 25 November 1995, when Archiepiscopal Exarchate of Kiev-Vyshhorod was created, under the jurisdiction of Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Lviv. Originally, it covered all central, eastern and southern parts of Ukraine, but later lost territory to newly created exarchates for eastern and southern regions. On 6 December 2004, the remaining central region of the Exarchate was transformed into an Archeparchy of Kiev, and in the same time it became the principal see of the newly created Ukrainian Catholic Major Archeparchy of Kiev-Halych, and thus a primatial see of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The Archeparchy of Kiev is currently led by Sviatoslav Shevchuk, who is Major Archbishop of Kiev-Halych and head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. He is assisted by auxiliary bishop Bohdan Dzyurakh, C.SS.R. and auxiliary bishop Josyf Milyan. The Archeparchy of Kiev has founded the newspaper "Sobor".Episcopal ordinaries
