Unine (band)


Unine is a nine-member Chinese boy band formed by the second season of the survival show Idol Producer by iQiyi on April 6, 2019. The group consists of: Li Wenhan, Li Zhenning, Yao Mingming, Guan Yue, Jiayi, Hu Chunyang, Xia Hanyu, Chen Youwei and He Changxi.

History

Pre-debut

UNINE was formed through the reality television show Idol Producer 2 aired from January 21 to April 6, 2019. It was the second series of the Idol Producer franchise. Out of the 100 trainees, only 9 were to debut through audience votings. It was eventually announced that Li Wenhan had came in first place, Li Zhenning in second, followed by Yao Mingming, Guan Yue, Jia Yi, Hu Chunyang, Xia Hanyu, Chen Youwei and He Changxi respectively.
Prior to UNINE, Li Wenhan is a member of the Chinese-South Korean boy band Uniq which debuted in 2014. He also made his acting debut in 2016.
Li Zhenning is a member of the Chinese pre-debut project BG Project.
Yao Mingming is known for training with SEVENTEEN and appeared in Seventeen TV. He was also a contestant in a South Korean survival boy band show, Mix Nine. However, he was eliminated in the final episode. He had debuted with a group called BLK on November 28, 2017, but the group disbanded on September 17, 2018.
Guan Yue is a member of the Chinese boy band called XII Constellations, he is part of the sub-unit The Wind.
Jia Yi is a member of the Chinese boy band Mr. Tyger, stylized as Mr. 钛戈, which debuted in 2018.
Chen Youwei made his acting debut in 2018.

2019–present: Debut with ''UNLOCK''

UNINE released their first ever EP UNLOCK on May 6, 2019.
UNINE released their album "U-Night Flight" of 11 songs on May 19, 2020.

Members

On 6 April, after their debut, PD Lay Zhang and guest host He Jiong announced the group's logo and that UNINE would be the ambassador of 蒙牛真果粒.
