Built and established in 2005, the Universal College of Nursing was founded by its incumbent president, Domingo Tay. With his background in the manufacturing sector and his sincere desire to contribute to nation-building, Tay wanted to address the labor demand gap both for the local and global markets. Hence, the first and flagship program became B.S. Nursing which practically occupied half of the 5-story edifice along Sucat, Road in the bustling city of Paranaque. The school has always forged close links with the government of Paranaque City under the leadership of Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr.. Following the city's slogan “Give customers the best treatment they deserve,’’ Tay was inspired to adopt a school motto that was congruent to it, ‘’A sound mind and a sound body.’’ Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Information System and Business Administration with Majors in Financial Management and Marketing were subsequently offered. As of 2008, all its academic programs are now recognized by the Commission on Higher Education. To date, UC has new courses such as Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, BS Accountancy, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Computer Engineering, bs Electronics Engineering, and Short Courses such as Culinary Arts, Medical Transcription, Caregiving NC II, Certificate in Practical Nursing, Hotel and Restaurant Services, PC Operations NC II, Programming NC II, and Computer Hardware Servicing NC II. The first batch of B.S. Nursing graduates took the Nursing board examination last June 2009 and seventeen graduates passed and took oath with the Professional Regulation Commission. The school now seeks to be granted a permit to operate its B.S. Accountancy and B.S. Engineering programs commencing school year 2010–2011. In 2013, the UC Culinary Arts started to accept students who want to earn diploma in cooking. In 2016, with the paradigm shift in the teaching and learning process in the Basic Education Curriculum, Universal College of Parañaque offered Senior High School Program. The SHS program includes the Academic Track and Technical Vocational Track. Specifically for the academics; Science Technology Engineering Mathematics Strand, Accountancy Business Management Strand, Humanities and Social Sciences Strand, General Academic Strand. More to, TVL track encompasses Home Economic Strand and Information and Communication Technology Strand. UCP has been a channel of success and excellence in honing the students’ academic performances. This has been showcased through multiple disciplinary licensure examinations that gave 100% of passing rate namely in the Licensure examinations in Engineering Programs, Nursing Program and Education programs. Concurrently in 2016, Universal College impressively achieved one of its highest glories by getting the being the Top 1 in the national Certified Public AccountantBoard Exam. In 2017, UCP topped the Licensure Examination for Teachers garnering the 6th place. UCP continues to uphold its oath to deliver quality and affordable education and endures to reinvent itself as it faces the challenges of the global educational arena.
