Vũ Hà Anh


Vũ Hà Anh is a supermodel and singer.
Hà Anh is one of the few models in Vietnam that has been active and successful in the international fashion industry. She also attended and was highly regarded for her appearance and behaviour in many beauty contests at home and abroad, including Miss Universe Vietnam and Miss Earth. She is considered one of the most powerful models in Vietnam and was invited to be the main judge of Vietnam's Next Top Model 2010 season. In 2011, Hà Anh tried as a singer and released two singles.
Now, She is one of big4 Vietnamese supermodels, along with Võ Hoàng Yến, Xuân Lan and Thanh Hằng.

Childhood

Vũ Nguyễn Hà Anh, or nicknamed Ly, was born in a family with artistic tradition, with her father is film artist and designer Vu Huy, and her mother is journalist-translator Le Ha. Hà Anh's grandfather is writer Vũ Tú Nam, and her grandmother is a journalist Thanh Huong – former Editor in Chief of a Vietnam Women newspaper. At the age of nine, she was given by her grandmother the album Dangerous and since then she has a special love for music, especially Michael Jackson. Hà Anh's parents educated her in a Western way of life, for piano lessons, swimming and foreign languages from an early age. Hà Anh also has a sister named Hà Mi, who later went to study in England and she is a strong shelter for her.
While at school, Hà Anh was discriminated against by friends for her appearance and height. At the age of fourteen, Hà Anh received many invitations to play basketball and modelling, but she still determined to go to college. While studying English at Hanoi – Amsterdam, Hà Anh has set a goal of earning scholarships to study abroad. She applied for 200 scholarships and was accepted by Broomsgrove School in England with 80% of tuition fees, also a stepping stone to the University of Reading, Department of Business Management. Hà Anh earned a job as a telemarketer, followed by sales consultants for fashion brands such as Nicole Farhi and Christian Dior for £9 an hour. The model was soon revealed, and her classmates called her Claudia Schiffer and her workplace director thanked to her modelling for the hard-to-find outfits of a store.

Career

Modelling

She began pursuing her modelling career in 2006 and worked with MOT Models. Also in that year, Hà Anh won the first European Professional Model and Asian Face in the UK. The judges have commented on Hà Anh: "As a potential person to become a successful model, we have the confidence, the bravery, the gentleness and the charismatic style. The natural way does not follow any pattern." He also commented that her biggest strength was her self-confidence on stage and in front of the camera. During her time in the fashion world, Hà Anh has performed at many fashion shows in the world such as London Fashion Week, Paris Ethnic Fashion Week, and photography for brands like Gucci, Lynx, Chloé, Tony & Guy, etc. She is also the exclusive face of Rosy Paris, who has appeared regularly at Lingerie International Fashion Week in Paris, Lyon, New York City, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. In 2009, Hà Anh terminated her contract with her management company in the UK and in operation in Vietnam, on the grounds that "long-term potential in the domestic market." From then on, she quickly gained successes on the Vietnamese stage. Hà Anh was named one of the top vignettes of the Vietnamese fashion scene with Thanh Hằng, Võ Hoàng Yến, Ngọc Quyên, etc. "Working with Hà Anh, myself and our clients, especially foreign clients, are very comfortable and satisfied," said Thuy Nga, managing director of Elite Vietnam. "They are comfortable with them in English, which is the attitude of professional work, expressed through very specific things such as punctuality, compliance, scripts of the director, politeness, friendly, have the culture of Hà Anh," and also stated that "only Hà Anh and Thanh Hằng are worthy of supermodels." Besides being invited by foreign brands to attend the event, she also received the highest performance in the Vietnamese market. After this, Hà Anh has more roles as a guide and teaches new models.
Although often appearing with boldly sexy dress style, Hà Anh has declared not to take nude photos. She said: "Personally, I do not think nudity is right for me, of course, if someone else does, I do not object, because it's for fashion, art." In the end of 2011, Hà Anh is a guest on the television show Mỗi tuần một chuyện – Đối thoại với Lê Hoàng to discuss hot topics.

Singing

Hà Anh understands that singing is her number one passion, even before fashion. While still in college, she received a scholarship to a singer training course at the British Academy of Music but did not have enough to pay for higher education. Hà Anh's first performance on the big stage was in the talent section of Miss Earth 2006, in which she sang the song "Hero". That night, she was named Miss Runner, and Miss Ghana told her, "Your song is amazing, you really are a queen with a great voice of Mariah Carey. Singing makes us all feel we are the winners." In 2011, Hà Anh and Hồ Trung Dũng participated in the programme Cặp đôi hoàn hảo, which also made her comeback after six years away from music. The couple of Hà Anh-Trung Dũng performed the song "Còn Gì Khi Anh Vắng Em" achieved the highest score and judge Lê Hoàng insisted that Hà Anh "can completely be a singer." Hồ Trung Dũng talked about her "being a perfect playmate" and "working professionally, responsibly, feeling good and singing." However, the couple stopped at the fifth week, due to allegedly performing poorly on the song "Tình 2000". After the contest, Hà Anh announced that she would become a serious singer and practice dancing and vocal every day. She talked about pursuing singing career: "I have been working in the fashion industry as a model for seven years, and for me I have gone to the land I want, this experience for I am a good enough time, I am ready for a new journey, new challenges in life."
On 28 November 2011, her first single "Model " was released as a DVD, featured with the magazine Harper's Bazaar. The R&B/dance song had provoked a lot of controversy with the image of the big investment, but too provocative and Hà Anh's voice is still limited. Three days later, Hà Anh held a mini-show called It's Me, Ha Anh at the Park Hyatt Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City to promoted her single and launched her photos. Soon after, she was compared to Hồ Ngọc Hà – the top entertainer in Vietnam, but Hà Anh stated her goal was not Hà Ho, but wanted to be natural when she had one degree "say" certain. On 6 April 2012, Hà Anh held her second mini-show in Hanoi entitled "From the Very Start" to release her eponymous second single.

Beauty Contests

Hà Anh is considered to have a beautiful face with curvy lips, in addition to the body shape and small waist. In 2005, she participated in the top ten of the Miss Vietnam Women's Contest organised by the Women World Magazine and won the Best Body Award. She is also the representative of Vietnam Miss Earth 2006 in the Philippines but did not make it into the semi-finals and won the first runner-up in Miss Talent contest. In May 2008, Ha Anh participated in Miss Universe Vietnam and received many hopes of being crowned. The finale took place and Ha Anh was not named in the top 5 most beautiful people, she turned to walk straight into the chicken expressing frustration. She said: "I was a bit sad because my efforts did not get the results, but it was okay because I determined from the beginning that the contest was not for the title, but for the sewer. I do not go back to the stage because I feel that my role in the competition is enough, I want to leave the stage for you–the contestants are also very beautiful." After Miss Universe, Ha Anh continued to Miss Vietnam global contest in the United States and was in the runner-up. She says she has learned from the Miss Universe page that her strengths are her own, shining with what she has instead of trying to adjust herself from the perspective of the majority.

In October 2017, Hà Anh joined Vua đầu bếp Season 5, Celebrity version.

Private life

Hà Anh once said, "I am straight and this is easy to offend other people", as well as not knowing "encapsulation for words" or "false good faithful to the crowd." This led to many noisy scandals, where also attached her title "queen of marketing". Even then, she had to hire a lawyer to protect her statements and photos, avoiding her own words being distorted by the press. In addition, she also recognises that she is serious in love, only love actually three people and no love affair. The longest love of Hà Anh is with her English boyfriend Andrew. They met in 2004 when both of them were working in London. At this time she often wrote and posted her boyfriend's blog on her personal blog and nicknamed "Mèo". The two broke up in 2009, Hà Anh shared: "Our feelings are good but not really enough for me to bravely go to the future in the long run." Shortly after, she was suspected of having feelings for stylist Henry Hubert, but Hà Anh denied the rumour. By the end of 2011, after having collaborated with each other in the Cặp đôi hoàn hảo contest, Hồ Trung Dũng affirmed his relationship with Hà Anh "more friendly than friendship" and both had "same living opinion, same musical perspective." Hà Anh later also praised him for his many collaborations with her on stage.
In 2013, Hà Anh announced her boyfriend is chef Bobby Chinn after familiar and loved each other for nearly a year.
On 26 March 2014, Hà Anh announced on her personal page that she officially split with Bobby Chinn after two years of dating. Just a few months later, she officially opened her new boyfriend's photo with two sweet vacationers together. Hà Anh's current status is British but her identity has not been officially announced to the fans.
In 2016, she married Oliver Dowden, nicknamed Olly, born in 1984 in England, and less than two years younger from her. Olly is currently a teacher at an international elementary school in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2018, it is expected that both will welcome their first baby,

Dispute with ''Vietnam's Next Top Model''

In 2010, Hà Anh, Huy Võ and Đức Hải were invited to be judges for Vietnam's Next Top Model's first season, replacing the three former judges in the casting. That year's competition was held quite successfully and the title of champion belongs to Huyền Trang, and runner-up belonged to Tuyết Lan. After the contest, Huyền Trang was alone to New York City and established a business with the help of Huy Võ and Hà Anh. Hà Anh also commented, "There is a lot of potential for success in the international market."
Tuyết Lan and Hoàng Thùy–the second season champion were invited to attend the New York Fashion Week 2012 and are two prominent Asian faces on the catwalk. When asked about Vietnamese models performing at the New York Fashion Week, Hà Anh shared with the press that Huyền Trang was struggling with fifty casting appearances at five shows in New York Fashion Week 2012, while Tuyết Lan and Hoàng Thùy only performed at Couture Fashion Week–an activity that took place at the same time. After that, public opinion also found many sources to affirm Hà Anh's words were correct and the organisers have too PR. But the organisers of Vietnam's Next Top Model did not acknowledge, and condemned the statements of Hà Anh, which were fabricated and baseless. Quỳnh Trang, the production manager of Vietnam's Next Top Model, said, "I think Hà Anh's statements are due to her desire to satisfy her aggressiveness. At the New York Fashion Week has not said so," and threatened to sue her if she did not apologise. Designer Đỗ Mạnh Cường also had the offensive language to Hà Anh on Facebook, calling her a "little nhen, jealousy in the news" and "crammed in the head Huyền Trang dark thoughts." Before the accusations from the organisers, Hà Anh said: "If you ignore yourself then narcissism, angry say back, said curse insulting individuals, Hà Anh is not interested in reply. Behaviour of Hà Anh was raised" but she declared, "Please sue me, I also look forward to the court to bring things to light."
Quỳnh Trang also disclosed information to the press that Hà Anh lost her position in the jury because she was not honest, there was a hysteric should always persecute Tuyết Lan. Tuyết Lan also replied in a newspaper that she did not get the title of Vietnam's Next Top Model because Hà Anh played badly, drowned for once forgot to say hello, but now she is not afraid to confront Hà Anh again because she has her own place. After this statement, Tuyết Lan had suffered the heavy outcry of public opinion and was called "brazen" and "eat porridge stone bowl." A few days later, Hà Anh wrote on Facebook a reply to Tuyết Lan, giving full reasons why Tuyết Lan can not become a champion and reminded: "I am a young age, I have the potential, Gradually, I have to live up to my own age, slowly, to strive for my accomplishments."

Community service

On 22 April 2009, Hà Anh was accepted as goodwill ambassador for the "Agent Orange" campaign–a trip along the length of Vietnam organised by Orange Carers to support the victims. On 25 June of that year, she was auctioned for a $1,050 appointment in the "Celebrity Auction Auctions" programme to raise money for surgery for children with deformities in the lips and palms of Vietnam.
On 18 August 2010, Vũ Nguyễn Hà Anh was officially appointed as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in Vietnam, with five main missions: fighting against stigma and discrimination against children, children affected by HIV/AIDS, youth awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention, advocacy for traffic safety and the importance of wearing helmets for children, and encourage change in social and cultural considerations related to breastfeeding and sex fetus selection. She was the second Vietnamese to receive this honour after Lê Huỳnh Đức.
On 28 September 2011, she was one of the ten ambassadors of "One Photo – One Action", a celebrity showcase for environmental protection in Vietnam. Her photo was taken and there was a half-face tree, carrying the message: "Love and protect the forest as you are". In July 2012, before the National Assembly deliberated on the recognition of same-sex marriage, Hà Anh also voiced her support for and opposition to stigma and gender discrimination.
In October 2013, Hà Anh was named international ambassador for the organisation by Global Angels, alongside celebrities such as music star Natasha Bedingfield and Joss Stone. The organisation protects the rights and health of women and children around the world.
