Veracruz wren

The Veracruz wren is a songbird of the family Troglodytidae, the wrens. It is a resident breeding species in central Veracruz, Mexico.
This species was split from the rufous-naped wren when it was determined three main populations vary markedly in size and coloration, and represented separate species: Veracruz wren, Sclater's wren, and rufous-backed wren. This species sometimes retains the name rufous-naped wren by some taxonomists. Some taxonomic authorities do not recognize the split, including the American Ornithological Society.
