Vetkoek

Amagwinya also known as vetkoek is a traditional South African fried dough bread. It is similar to the Caribbean Johnny cake, the Dutch oliebol, and the Mexican sopaipillas.

In a traditional South African braai, or barbecue, vetkoek may be served alongside boerewors. Vetkoek is commonly sold at family-owned takeaway restaurant and African festivals and cultural events.
