Vierpolders


Vierpolders is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Brielle, and lies about 5 km north of Hellevoetsluis.
In 2001, the village of Vierpolders had 993 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.21 km², and contained 397 residences.
The statistical area "Vierpolders", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1740.
Vierpolders was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1980, when it became part of Brielle. The name of the village, literally "four polders", refers to the municipality, that consisted of the polders Nieuwland, Veckhoek, Oud-Helvoet, and Oude-Gote. The village and the municipality were previously also named "Nieuwland".
