Violet Keene
Violet Keene was an English-born Canadian photographer.
The daughter of portrait photographer Minna Keene and Caleb Keene, she was born in Bath, Somerset, England, and first learned how to use a camera at her mother's studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. After her family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Keene began her own career in photography. She photographed major figures of her time including Aldous Huxley, George Bernard Shaw and Vere Ponsonby, 9th Earl of Bessborough, Canadian governor general.
Keene was also manager of the portrait studio for Eaton's on College Street in Toronto.
She married Harold Edgar Perinchief but continued to use her maiden name in her work.
She died in Oakville, Ontario.
