Virudhaka

Virudhaka was a king of Kosala during the lifetime of the Buddha. He was the son and successor of Pasenadi, king of Kosala. Virūḍhaka attacked and virtually annihilated the little autonomous tribe of Shakyas, to which the Buddha belonged, and Koliyas, in the Himalayan foothills. A little later his kingdom was incorporated in Magadha.
