Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur


Vivekananda College, established in 1950 as Barisha College, is an undergraduate college in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is affiliated with the Calcutta University.

History

In June 1956, Vivekananda College was sponsored by the State Government and upgraded to Degree College status, and renamed to Vivekananda College, in honour of Swami Vivekananda. Due to a lack of space, the college moved from Barisha in 1959 to Thakurpukur, with the previous site being used for the women's section Vivekananda College for Women.
