WNS was founded in 1996 by British Airways as Speedwing World Network Services in Mumbai. In May 2002, a 70% shareholding was sold to Warburg Pincus. From 300 employees in 2003, WNS has expanded to over 44,000 people today. It has 61 delivery centers across 13 different countries and services over 200 Fortune 500 companies.
WNS Global Services South Africa
WNS Global Services Holdings acquired Fusion Outsourcing Services, which was owned by the BGL Group in 2012 for £10 million as part of their global expansion strategy. Johann Kunz is, the Managing Director of the South African region. South Africa was seen as an important acquisition due to its growth and capabilities in the outsourcing industry. It is a favourable offshoring destination for UK, Europe and Australian markets due to its competitive price point of between 45%-50%, cultural affinity to the UK,US and Australian markets, well established infrastructure, large English speaking talent pool, time zone friendliness and business enabling environment supported by government incentives.
Proprietary platforms and offerings
WNS has developed technology-enabled platforms like WNS-Verifare, WNS-Jade, WNS-Dynamic Discount Manager and WNS-ProClaim. As a part of its analytics offerings, WNS has developed WNS Analytics Decision Engine, WADESM and ProGenieSM – a proprietary tool to help online visitors navigate the website. Adrian T. Dillion is the chairman of the Board of Directors at WNS. He is currently a Member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committees of Williams-Sonoma, Inc, a specialty retailer of home products. Keshav Murugesh is the CEO. He is responsible for executing the business strategy and directing the overall performance and growth of the organization. Murugesh has held several leadership positions in global companies, including President and CEO, Syntel Inc, and ITC Ltd, an affiliate of BAT Plc.

A $300 million contract from Australian insurance major Suncorp to WNS along with Genpact for end-to-end insurance outsourcing.
A back-office contract from Mashreq, one of the largest banks in the United Arab Emirates.
Financial Results
In fiscal 2016, WNS made net revenues of $531 million, which represented 5.6% year-over-year growth or 11% on a constant currency basis. This top line improvement, coupled with operating and profit margin expansion, helped the company increase its adjusted net income to $103.0 million or $1.92 per diluted share.
Acquisitions
2003: WNS acquires Town & Country Assistance Limited; a UK-based automobile claims handling company, thereby extending beyond the travel industry to include insurance-based automobile claims processing.
2004: Takes over the health claims management business of Greensnow.
2006: Makes three key acquisitions. It acquired Trinity Partners Inc, a provider of BPO services to financial institutions, the fare audit services business from PRG Airlines; and the financial accounting business from GHS Holdings LLC.
2007: Acquires Marketics, a provider of offshore analytics services.
2008: Acquires Accidents Happen Assistance Limited, or AHA ; BizAps, a provider of systems applications and products; and finally Aviva Global Services.
2011: Acquires shares from JV partner and assumed full control of the Philippines centre.
2012: Takes over Fusion Outsourcing Services in South Africa.
2016: WNS acquired Denali Sourcing Services, in procurement and sourcing.
2017: WNS acquires Houston based HealthHelp, in care management.
