Wenkchemna Peak


Wenkchemna Peak is located on the border of Alberta and British Columbia. It was named in 1894 by Samuel E. S. Allen.
Wenkchemna is the 10th peak in The Valley of the Ten Peaks, as they are normally numbered. It is an extension into the valley of the ridge formed by Mount Hungabee and Ringrose Peaks.

Geology

Wenkchemna Peak is composed of sedimentary rock laid down during the Precambrian to Jurassic periods. Formed in shallow seas, this sedimentary rock was pushed east and over the top of younger rock during the Laramide orogeny.

Climate

Based on the Köppen climate classification, Wenkchemna Peak is located in a subarctic climate with cold, snowy winters, and mild summers. Temperatures can drop below −20 C with wind chill factors below −30 C.
