Westminster House, Manchester

Westminster House is a commercial facility on Portland Street, Manchester.

History

The building, which was designed by Fitzroy Robinson & Partners and built at the cost of £4.5 million, was completed in 1973. It served as the headquarters of Greater Manchester County Council from the council's formation in 1974 until its abolition in 1986. However the full county council would meet at Manchester Town Hall. The building, which was originally referred to as County Hall, was sold to Parc Securities in 1988 and to County Hall Properties in 1990. It was renamed Westminster House in the 1990s and extensively refurbished in 2016.
