William Church Davis


William Church Davis served as a brigadier general during World War I. He commanded the 32nd Heavy Artillery Brigade during the war.

Early life and education

Davis attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating with the class of 1890.

Career

Davis was appointed captain to the Artillery Corps on May 8, 1901.
Davis taught military science and tactics at Colorado State Agricultural College.
During the Spanish–American War, he served as depot quartermaster at Fort Henry.

Awards

Davis received the Army Distinguished Service Medal for his command of the Artillery support of the Fifth Corps in November 1918 during the Meuse-Argonne campaign.

Personal life and family

In 1896, Davis married Margaret Turner Schenk. Together they had three children: Margaret, William, and Samuel.

Death and legacy

Davis died on September 23, 1958 in Berkeley, California.
