William Davenport Adams
William Davenport Adams was an English journalist and author.Life
Born in Brixton, London, he was the son of William Henry Davenport Adams, also a journalist and author. Educated at Merchant Taylors' School and the University of Edinburgh. He began newspaper work in 1870, working in Greenock and for the Nottingham Daily Guardian. He became literary editor of The Globe in 1885, and was also well known as a dramatic critic. He published many collections of poetry, several books about books, and edited a Dictionary of English Literature and a Dictionary of the Drama.
