William Warwick


Captain William "Bil" Warwick, CBE was a merchant sailor and the Master of Cunard's Queen Elizabeth 2, the first person to hold that position.
He was born on 12 November 1912 in Birkenhead, England.
He appeared as a "castaway" on the BBC Radio programme Desert Island Discs on 18 September 1967.
He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1971.
He died on 27 February 1999. His son, Captain Ronald Warwick, was a master of the QE2 later on in the ships time in Cunard service.
