Wishbone chair

The Wishbone Chair, also known as the CH24 Chair or Y Chair is a chair designed by Hans Wegner in 1949 for Carl Hansen & Søn. The chair, Wegner's best selling design is a notable example of Danish furniture design.

History

The Wishbone chair is the last iteration of a number of designs Hans Wegner produced starting in 1944; for the series, Wegner found inspiration in round wooden seats of Ming China.
In 1948, Holger Hansen of Carl Hansen & Søn commissioned Wegner to produce a chair similar to prior designs of the series. Hans Wegner created the design in 1949; the model went into production the following year.
The chair has been in continuous production since its original release.
In 2017 Carl Hansen & Son bought out the manufacturer DAFI Tropicdane with plans to improve the production process.
