Wood Green railway station (Wednesbury)


Wood Green railway station was a railway station built on the Grand Junction Railway in 1837. It served the Wood Green area of Wednesbury, and was located near to where junction 9 of the M6 motorway has been located since the late 1960s.
It originally opened as Bescot Bridge, and was the Grand Junction Railway's main station for Walsall. As such, it was also known as Walsall station. Bescot Bridge station closed in 1850. The new Wood Green Station was opened on the same site in 1881. The station closed in 1941.
