Xian WS-15


The WS-15, codename Emei, is a Chinese afterburning turbofan engine designed by the Shenyang Aeroengine Research Institute and manufactured by the Xi'an Aero-Engine Corporation to power the Chengdu J-20, which is planned to achieve supercruise.

Design and development

Development of the WS-15 afterburning turbofan engine began in the early 1990s. . The thrust target was reported as in 2012.The new engine is speculated to incorporate two-plane thrust vectoring nozzles.
