Yisrael Zinger


Yisrael Raul Zinger is an Israeli politician and former mayor of Ramat Gan

Biography

Zinger was born on 1948 in Bucharest in Romania. He emigrated to Israel with his family in 1962 and earned a master's degree in nuclear physics in 1978 at Tel Aviv University. In 1985 he was appointed principal of Blich high school until 2003. Zinger is married and he has three children.

Political career

In the 2003 elections, Zinger filed candidacy for mayor of Ramat Gan and was elected to the City Council. In 2008 elections, he ran again for the function of mayor of Ramat Gan. He led the municipal opposition until 2013.
In 2013 elections, For the third time running for mayor of Ramat Gan and won after a struggle with the Carmel Shama-Hacohen and was elected mayor with 52.4% of the vote. Faction has four seats.
On December 15, 2014 has been placed for a week under house arrest due a to corruption suspicion. For two weeks he had to interrupt his activity at the city hall.
În 2018 the enquiry was finished with no proof of guilt. In the same year he lost the position of mayor in favor of Carmel Shama-Hacohen.
