Yokoshiba Station is a railway station in Yokoshibahikari, Chiba, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company.

Yokoshiba Station is served by the Sōbu Main Line between Tokyo and, and is located 86.8 rail km from the western terminus of the Sōbu Main Line at Tokyo Station. Shiosai limited express services stop at this station.

Station layout

Yokoshiba Station has one side platform and one island platform connected by an overpass. The station has a "Midori no madoguchi" ticket office.

History

Yokoshiba Station opened on 1 June 1897 as a station on the Sōbu Railway for both passenger and freight operations. On 1 September 1907, the Sōbu Railway was nationalised, becoming part of the Japanese Government Railway. After World War II, the JGR became the Japanese National Railways. Scheduled freight operations were suspended from 1 July 1973. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987.
