Zaman International School


Paragon International School is a private bilingual international school in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh. Paragon ISC is certified by the Cambodian Ministry of Education, is a CIS accredited school, and is accepted by the University of Cambridge International Centre.

History

The school was founded in 1997 by former journalist Atilla Yusuf Guleker of the Turkish daily Zaman.
It began as a single purpose-converted building on street 71 off Mao Tse Tung Boulevard near the junction with Monivong Boulevard. From a school that catered for 20 children when it opened, it has grown to educate over 1,100 students across three campuses, all of which are in the city.

The principal on the Secondary Campus is Muhtor Adashev; the principal on the Primary Campus is Kudret Dogan, and the principal on the Kindergarten Campus is Minerva Arabian Original.
Facilities on the ZIS Secondary Campus include basketball and volleyball courts; a football field; a library; a dormitory; physics, biology and chemistry labs; a computer lab; a theatre; air-conditioned spacious classrooms; an art room; a music room; and a cafeteria.
Facilities at ZIS Primary Campus include covered and open playgrounds, a swimming pool, a library, a nurse's room, a science lab, a dance room, a computer lab, a spacious cinema, a conference room, air-conditioned spacious classrooms, an art room, music room, a games room and a cafeteria.

Academics

Local students follow the national curriculum and have the opportunity to follow the Cambridge curriculum for English-medium subjects which will lead them to take the IGCSE, AS and A Level examinations.
ZIS graduates have been accepted at many prestigious universities around the world in countries including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, the US, Turkey and more.
The school offers numerous extracurricular clubs which take place after school hours. The sports team are entered into a range of local and international competitions.
ZIS is involved in many academic contests which sees its students compete in competitions including the World Scholar's Cup, GENIUS Olympiad, and the International Math Challenge.
The school offers students the opportunity to attend many educational field trips in Cambodia as well as more adventurous overseas travels which have included tours to the US and Australia.
