Çamlıca TRT Television Tower
Çamlıca TRT Television Tower is a communication tower in Üsküdar district of Istanbul, Turkey. It is owned and operated by the state-owned Turkish Radio and Television Corporation.
The tower is located on Büyük Çamlıca Hill at above main sea level. The construction of the tower began by March 1972, and it was completed in July 1976. Test broadcasting for single-frequency network from the transmitter began on February 3, 2006. The tower has a total height of with the highconical concrete tower and a steel mast atop. On May 21, 2010, a fire broke out at the tower's height. The fire caused damage to the transmitter, and the broadcasting was interrupted until the damage was removed.
With the completion of the Küçük Çamlıca TV Radio Tower on the neighborung hill, the steel transmitter masts, which cause visual pollution and are considered to be harmful to health, will be removed and integrated in both towers.
