Küçük Çamlıca TV Radio Tower


Küçük Çamlıca TV Radio Tower is a telecommunications tower with observation decks and restaurants under construction in Üsküdar district of Istanbul, Turkey. When completed, its top will probably be the highest point above sea level in Istanbul.

Description

The tower is situated on Küçük Çamlıca Hill. The construction began on 1 March 2016, and is being carried out by Sarıoğlu Constructiın Co. It is being built in concrete on a deep foundation. A steel mast of height for radio and television transmission will be mounted atop the high concrete tower. The total height of the tower will be then with its top standing above main sea level. It will be the highest structure in Istanbul. Its cross section has elliptical form with the main axes of, which become smaller upwards. Each tower floor will be high. Two observation decks will be situated on the 33rd and 34th floors at height. The 39th and 40th floors at height will host a restaurant and a cafeteria. Libraries and exhibition halls will be situated in the basement floors. A panoramic elevator and a service elevator will serve the tower. It is hoped that the tower will attract about 4.5 million visitors yearly.
Küçük Çamlıca Tower will be capable of hosting 125 broadcasting transmitters. When completed, it will replace most of the steel communications masts at the two neighboring Çamlıca hills, which cause visual pollution and are considered to be harmful to health. The remaining existing radio and TV masts which cannot find a place in the Küçük Çamlıca Tower will be integrated into the Çamlıca TRT Television Tower at the nearby Büyük Çamlıca Hill. The construction will cost 170 million.
