Škoda Karoq

The Škoda Karoq is a compact crossover SUV designed and built by the Czech car manufacturer Škoda Auto. The vehicle is based on the VW MQB platform, and officially replaced the Škoda Yeti. It was revealed in May 2017, and the sales began in the second half of 2017. It is a sister model to the SEAT Ateca.
The car is slightly larger than Škoda Kamiq, and smaller than the Škoda Kodiaq. Compared to Kamiq, it is also intended to be used outside of cities and roads.

Name

The name Karoq comes just like the name Kodiaq from Aleuts, the native inhabitants of Alaskan island Kodiak. The name Karoq was created by a combination of Aleutian words Kaa'Raq and Ruq, a car and an arrow, which is the motive of the Škoda logo.

Description

The car was officially introduced at a special event on 18 May 2017 at 19:00 in Sweden. The car began to be produced at the turn of June and July 2017 in Kvasiny. The sales started in the autumn of 2017.
Compared to its predecessor, the Škoda Yeti, the Karoq is significantly larger, which is one of the reasons why Škoda is not talking about it as a second generation. Compared to the Yeti, it is 160 mm longer, 35 mm wider and 40 mm lower. The wheelbase is 60 mm longer.
The car is technically comparable to SEAT Ateca, but the makers tried to maximally differentiate their design.
