History

Aberdeen was named after Aberdeen, Scotland. Aberdeen was originally located east-northeast of its present site at on the Southern Pacific Railroad. The Tibbotts post office opened in 1895, moved and changed its name to Aberdeen in 1896, closed in 1898, reopened in 1921 and closed for good in 1934. The name Tibbets commemorates a local ranching family.
