Adolph Marx (bishop)


Adolph Marx served as the first Roman Catholic bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brownsville, in Brownsville, Texas.

Biography

Born in Cologne, Germany, Marx was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Corpus Christi on May 2, 1940. On July 6, 1956, Pope Pius XII appointed Marx auxiliary bishop of the Corpus Christi Diocese and he was consecrated on October 9, 1956. On July 9, 1965, Pope Paul VI appointed Marx to be Bishop of the Brownsville Diocese and he was installed on September 2, 1965. On November 1, 1965, Bishop Marx died suddenly.
