Anne Ward (suffragist)
Anne Ward was a temperance leader and welfare worker in New Zealand.
Titboald was born in Exeter, Devonshire, England, either in 1825 or 1826. On 26 January 1850, she married Dudley Ward at Rotherhithe. After his admission to the bar, the Wards set out for New Zealand, arriving on 29 September 1854 in Wellington on the Cordelia. She was the first national president of the New Zealand branch of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union from 1885 to 1887, when she resigned due to poor health. She died at her home in Christchurch on 31 May 1896 and was survived by her husband until 1913; the Wards had no children.
