Awaroa River

There are also two rivers with the same name in Waikato. One enters Kawhia Harbour, the other the Waikato River.
The Awaroa River is a short river in the far north of New Zealand. It is south of Kaitaia, and flows southwest for, reaching the Tasman Sea to the north of the Hokianga Harbour. Its estuary forms one of the two arms of Whangape Harbour.
The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "long river" for Awaroa.
