Balkan Romance languages


The Balkan Romance languages, also known as Daco-Romance languages, form the easternmost sub-branch of the Romance language family.

Languages

Balkan Romance comprises Romanian, Aromanian, Megleno-Romanian and Istro-Romanian, according to the most widely accepted classification of the Romance languages. The four languagessometimes labelled as "dialects" of Romaniandeveloped from a common ancestor. They are surrounded by non-Romance languages. Judaeo-Spanish is also spoken in the Balkan Peninsula, but it is rarely listed among the Balkan Romance languages because its development was independent from them.
