Bassingbourne Gawdy (died 1606)
Sir Bassingbourne Gawdy, of West Harling, Norfolk, was an English politician.
He was the son of Sir Bassingbourne Gawdy of West Harling, Norfolk and trained for the law at the Inner Temple. He succeeded his father in 1590 and was knighted in 1597.
He was appointed a Justice of the Peace for Norfolk by 1591 and High Sheriff of Norfolk for 1593–94 and 1601–02. He also served as a deputy lieutenant for Norfolk in 1605.
He was a Member of Parliament for Norfolk in 1601 and Thetford in 1593 and 1604.
He married twice. His first wife was Anne, the daughter and heiress of Sir Charles Framlingham of Crow's Hall, Debenham, Suffolk and his wife Dorothy, daughter of Sir Clement Higham, with whom he had three sons. He married secondly to Dorothy, the daughter of Nicholas Bacon of Redgrave, Suffolk, who bore him a further two sons and three daughters. He was succeeded by his son Framlingham Gawdy.
