Beverley Guildhall
The Guildhall is a municipal facility at Register Square in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is a Grade I listed building.History
The building, which dates back to the 15th century, was acquired for use as a meeting place by the town officials in 1501. The building was remodelled by William Middleton in 1762 and the Rococo-style stucco ceilings, created by Giuseppe Cortese, are also 18th century. A Doric style portico, designed by Charles Mountain the Younger, was installed in 1832. The building was used as the local facility for dispensing justice in the until the Sessions House opened in 1814. In the late 19th century, along with the Sessions House, it was also used as the meeting place for the East Riding County Council until County Hall was completed in 1891. It now operates as a community museum which exhibits objects from Beverley's history.Gallery
