Brendan George McCormack


Brendan George McCormack is a British academic. He is Head of the Division of Nursing; Occupational and Arts Therapies and Associate Director Centre for Person-centred Practice Research Queen Margaret University.

Education

McCormack is a Registered Nurse, holds a BSc in nursing from Buckinghamshire New University, a Post Graduate Certificate in the Education of Adults from the University of Surrey and a DPhil in Educational Studies from the University of Oxford.

Professional life

McCormack is an Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, Professor at University of South-Eastern Norway, Drammen, Norway and a Visiting Professor at The University of Maribor, Slovenia. McCormack previously served as director of research, Centre for Nursing Research, Ulster University. He serves as an Elected Executive of the United Kingdom Council of Deans of Health.

Awards and recognition

McCormack is a fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery ad eundum and the American Academy of Nursing. In 2011 McCormack was appointed a Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship Professor in 2011 by Ulster University. McCormack gave a Tedx talk in 2014. In 2014 McCormack was inducted into the Sigma Honor Society of Nursing International Nurse Researchers Hall of Fame and in 2015 was named as an Inspirational Nursing Leader by Nursing Times. In 2010 McCormack delivered the Winifred Raphael Memorial lecture at the Royal College of Nursing Congress.
