Claus von Wagner

Claus von Wagner is a German Kabarett artist or, in terms of Anglo-American classifications, a stand-up performer combining sharply observed comedy and political satire.

Life

Claus von Wagner grew up in Miesbach, some 45 km to the south-east of Munich. His father, originally from Prussia in the north of Germany, was a lawyer, his mother was a housewife. On successful completion of his final school exams he moved on to study Communications Sciences, Modern History and Media Law at Ludwig-Maximillian-University in Munich. He graduated with the degree of "Magister Artium" in 2003. The subject of his master thesis was: Political cabaret on German television. Between social criticism and self-promotion. An expert survey. Before and during his university-level studies he set up his first "Kabaret" show, "Warten auf Majola", which had its premier in 1997.
Since 2012 has he been a part of German TV-show heute-show. Since 2014 he has co-hosted with Max Uthoff the politically satirical Kabarett programme, Die Anstalt, a popular television show nationally. Parallel to the solo run, he was from 2004 to 2014 ensemble member of the First German Forced Ensemble. The trio consisted of Claus von Wagner and his colleagues Mathias Tretter and Philipp Weber.
