Del de Guzman


Del Reyes De Guzman is a Filipino politician served as the mayor of Marikina from 2010 until 2016. He served as the Philippine Congress Legislator for the 2nd District of Marikina City from 2007 until 2010. He was also the chairman of the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture.

Education

Del had his elementary education at H. Bautista Elementary School, secondary at Roosevelt College, Lamuan, Marikina City and his college degree at the University of the East, Manila.
Del de Guzman was the Vice Mayor for the City of Marikina from 1992–2001. He was the Vice Mayor of then Mayor Bayani Fernando. He was also Municipal Councilor from 1988–1992.
He recently attended a graduation ceremony of Jehoshua High School as a guest speaker and discussed about some of the Philippines' problems.

House of Representatives

In May 2001, he was elected in the Philippine Congress to represent the Lone District of Marikina. He served the post from May 2001 - May 2007.
Upon the creation of the 2nd District of Marikina City through Republic Act No. 9364, of which he was the principal author, he ran again under the administration and won in May 2007. He was thus the first congressman of the said district.

Mayor of Marikina

de Guzman ran for mayor in the 2010 elections, and he won. He assumed office on June 30, 2010, succeeding Marides Fernando. de Guzman, on his bid for his third and final term, was defeated by congressman Marcelino Teodoro in the 2016 elections.
