Gyarvi Sharif


Gyarvi Sharif is a Sufi festival celebrated as the anniversary of union of Abdul Qadir Jilani with Allah.
It is also called as Fatiha Yazdaham or Fatiha Do Azdaham.
Abdul Qadir Jilani is said to be the founder of Sufism in South Asia known as Ghaus e Azam Dastagir Gyarvi Sharif is celebrated annually on 11th Rabiussani or monthly at elventh of every month of Islamic calendar with organizing a religious meetings with cooking and distribution of sacred food or langar.
In Britain Gyarvi Sharif is the monthly ritual celebrated at all of the Zinda Pir's and mosques under his religion cults.

Iraq

In Baghdad there is an annual celebration of Gyarvi Sharif which attracts around 50,000-135,000 Pakistani nationals, with the masses from other countries including Afghanistan, India and various Arab countries.

India

Fateha Doazdaham or Gyarvi Sharif is celebrated in many Indian states with various Sufi rituals and practices
Juloos e Ghausiya is termed for the procession on the occasion of Gyarvi Sharif which involves congration of Sufi Muslims performing various Sufi practices, masses use to chant slogans such as "Ya Gaus Al Madad", In the same way other states of India such as Tripura uses to organize a peace rally on the occasion of Fateha Diaz Daham
Dastgeer Sahib a religious building constructed in the memory of Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani attracts masses performing various rituals on the occasion of Gyarvi Sharif
Fateha do azdaham is a public holiday in West Bengalwith religious celebrations in various Khanqah
Author Joyce Burkhalter Flueckiger in her book in Amma 's healing room mentioned that Amma's healing room celebrate Gyarvi Sharif with various rituals including changing like the old religious flags with new ones

Pakistan

In Pakistan Sufi lodges often celebrate Gyarvi Sharif on 11th of every month of Islamic Calendar. It is characterized by feeding the poor villagers or desciple by respected Shuyukhs of Various Khankahs through the Langar system commemorating the Shaikh Jilani. This act of Pirs marked as a symbol of generosity.. There used to be Gyarvi Sharif Mela till 1969 in the Badin of Pakistan

Bangladesh

Gyarvi Sharif is celebrated annually as Fateha e Yazdaham in Bangladesh. It is observed in the whole Bangladesh as a Sufi festival Observances include recitation of the Quran, organizing milads, discussing the life of Shaik Jilani, asking for Allah's blessings through du'a-munajat or Tawassul, and preparing and distributing Tabarruk, specially prepared for the occasionIt is an optional holiday in various educational institutions of Bangladesh Miyan saheb Maidan Khankah is said to be celebrating Fateha e Yazdaham for more than three hundred yearsThe Baitul Mukarram National Mosque also celebrates Fateha Yazdaham
