Harrogate Spring Water dates back to the 16th century when the first springs were found to be therapeutic. Today Harrogate Spring Water is a private limited company incorporated on 16 August 2000 initially under the name HSW Limited and later in January 2002 changing its names to Harrogate Spa Water Limited. Harrogate Spa Water is manufactures bottled water and sells it locally, nationally and internationally, being exported to as far away as Australia. Many of the UK's largest companies purchase this water to their customers and colleagues and the brand is also tied in with national sporting events and sponsorship.
The company is owned by Harrogate Water Brands, which also owns the Thirsty Planet brand of bottled water. The Thirsty Plant brand takes water from an aquifer located in sand and gravel, whereas the main spring is sourced from an aquifer in the millstone grit series in Harrogate. Harrogate Spring Water also sell water to the Masons Gin distillery in Aiskew, North Yorkshire.
Harrogate Spring Water is a popular brand within the United Kingdom, selling over annually in 2013, which was a market share of 1.4%. In 2019, the company achieved sales of £21.6 million.
