Healthy Together

Healthy Together is a COVID-19 contact tracing app used for digital contact tracing in Utah. It was first launched in April, and became operational on June 30, 2020.
Contract tracing apps are believed to be one of the most effective tools available to reduce transmission rates and relieve pressure on the healthcare system.
Utah paid over $2.75 million for development of the app. They were offered a similar app called "Distancing" for free the following week. Distancing does not ask health screening questions, while Healthy Together has a health screening quiz. Another difference is that Healthy Together did not use Bluetooth features, and governor's office later sought to add features like indoor geolocation to Healthy Together. The delays in adding geolocation capability delayed release of the app longer than expected. The app has been more difficult to use effectively as transmission rates have gone up in Utah.
Healthy Together does not use the Google/Apple API for contract-tracing and exposure notification. Healthy Together is currently used only in Utah, but has plans to expand to other states and enterprise customers.
