John Bush (High Sheriff)


John Bush was the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire.

Education

Born c.1745, son of Jonathan Bush of Burcot, he was educated at John Roysse's Free School in Abingdon,.

Career

He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law degree from The Queen's College, Oxford. In the 1776 Enclosure Award he was one of two principal landowners in the parish. He became a High Sheriff of Oxfordshire on 8 July 1773. He was a Steward of the OA Club in 1774 and held the rank of captain in the Oxfordshire Militia list.
