Joseph Wimmer


Joseph E. Wimmer was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Biography

Wimmer was born in Watertown, Wisconsin. He graduated from Watertown High School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin Law School and served in the United States Army.

Political career

Wimmer was Assistant City Attorney of Muskego, Wisconsin from 1968 to 1973. Previously, he was Assistant District Attorney of Waukesha County, Wisconsin from 1964 to 1967. Wimmer was elected to the Assembly in 1982 as a Republican. Wimmer was succeeded in the state assembly by future assembly speaker Scott Jensen in a special election in January 1992. From 1991 to 2000, Wimmer served as a Wisconsin Circuit Court judge for Waukesha County, Wisconsin. He was succeeeded on the Circuit Court by Michael O. Bohren.
