Kenan Pirić


Kenan Pirić is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Slovenian PrvaLiga club Maribor and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Pirić started his professional career at Gradina, before joining Sloboda Tuzla in 2014. Three years later, he moved to Zrinjski Mostar. The following year, he was transferred to Maribor.
A former youth international for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Pirić made his senior international debut in 2018.

Club career

Early career

Pirić is a product of Sloboda Tuzla's youth academy, who he left in June 2012 to join Gradina. He made his professional debut against Velež on 25 August 2012 at the age of 18.
After Gradina got relegated, in the summer of 2013, he went on trial with Belgian club Gent and even signed a contract, but never got first-team chance so he returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina the following July and signed a deal with his hometown club Sloboda Tuzla.
In February 2017, Pirić signed a -year deal with Zrinjski Mostar on a free transfer.

Maribor

On 11 December 2017, Slovenian side Maribor announced that Pirić would join them the following summer on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. He made his competitive debut for the club in a league game against Mura on 29 July, which ended in a goalless draw. Pirić won his first trophy with Maribor on 15 May 2019, when they were crowned league champions.

International career

Pirić was a member of Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 team. He made seven appearances during the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers in 2015 and 2016. He also served as a team captain under coach Vlado Jagodić.
In May 2016, he received his first senior call-up, for a friendly game against Spain and 2016 Kirin Cup, but had to wait until 31 January 2018 to make his debut against Mexico.

Personal life

Pirić and his wife Erina got married in December 2018.
