It was named after the symbol of the
Republic of Venice
, the
Lion
of
Saint Mark
.
The
party
was founded in
1921
by
Italico Corradino Cappellotto
, a member of the
Chamber of Deputies
for the
Italian People's Party
. In the
1921 general election
the party won 6.
1%
of the
votes
in the
Province of Treviso
, but was later
suppressed
by
Italian Fascism
, along all the
other parties
.
