Matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor
A matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor inhibits matrix metalloproteinases. As they inhibit cell migration they have antiangiogenic effects. They may be both endogenous and exogenous.
The most notorious endogenous metalloproteinases are tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases. There are also cartilage-derived angiogenesis inhibitors.
