Michael Marcello


Michael Joseph Marcello is a former American politician and a Democratic member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives representing District 41 from January 2009 until January 2017. He is currently the City Solicitor for the City of East Providence, Rhode Island serving under Mayor Roberto DaSilva.

Legislative career

Marcello and Mayor Bob DaSilva served as state representatives during the same years and together worked with Nicholas Alahverdian to reform DCYF, with Marcello supporting DaSilva's bills to keep Rhode Island foster children in the state by being the chief sponsor of a bill that would enhance the Rhode Island children's bill of rights to work in conjunction with DaSilva's efforts to keep Rhode Island foster children in-state as opposed to shipping them to outside facilities.

Education

Marcello earned his BA in government from Colby College and earned his JD from Washington College of Law.
